Living Longer

I hear it all the time - we're living longer.

Guess what?

"A baby born in the United States in 2004 will live an average of 77.9 years. That life expectancy ranks 42nd, down from 11th two decades earlier, according to international numbers provided by the Census Bureau and domestic numbers from the National Center for Health Statistics."

Yep, we rank 42 in the world!!

Sadly, the richest country in the world does not provide enough resources and attention to the health of its citizenry.

Let's see, cigarette smoking is down at very good rates from 10 years ago, yet we still do not live as long as we should?

Could we be poisoning ourselves with gas fumes?

What about other forms of air pollution? Asthma is on the rise, but cigarette smoking is not, so, I would have to assume that something else is the culprit.

Obesity, yes that's truly a problem in the US. We can take responsibility for that one ourselves, even though the FDA does not do its job properly.

How about insurance? Nope, I won't buy that one. I had health insurance and still couldn't afford the testing and the meds required to keep me at optimal health.

Basically, we need universal health care that won't cause us to lose doctors and other specialists because of their greed.

It's time for our politicians to start making a difference in America. Healthcare is at the top of the list.

I have two friends with lumps in their breasts. Twenty years ago, those lumps would have been removed. Not now. Even with good insurance, the insurance companies will not pay to have them removed unless they prove to be scary enough. You almost have to be certain that the lumps are malignant to have them removed. What if your Mother died of breast cancer? Not to worry, we still wait and see according to our excellent insurance (bottom dollar) based healthcare. Meanwhile, these women have to play the waiting game...

Let's watch it for a few months and see if they grow or change.

What does that do to a woman's psyche? Imagine the worry, stress, and anxiety she deals with. That's ok though, they have high blood pressure meds, and antidepressants and nerve pills to help them get through this waiting game.

Tampon Tim

So now they're calling him "tampon tim."  Meanwhile, we're loving the publicity showcasing the magnificence that is Tim Walz.  Gov. Tim Walz’s administration ensured that menstruation products are provided freely in Minnesota's public school bathrooms.  "This move is crucial for students who might experience their first periods unexpectedly or who cannot afford products at home. According to a 2019 study by Plan International USA, 1 in 5 girls in the U.S. has missed school because of lack of access to menstrual products." Walz also removed the tampon tax in Minnesota, proudly making it one of the few states to acknowledge the absurdity of taxing our essential health products. These are the kinds of actions that prove a politician cares about his or her constituents, and is concerned about the poorest among them.  Bravo! #HarrisWalz2024  https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/...

Ghost Proof Your Home

Halloween is around the corner and October in general is a month when strange happenings occur. I hear many tales of unexplained phenomena such as lights going on and off, knocks on the door when no one is there and sometimes just a "feeling" that someone is watching you. Is there any particular reason that spirits are more active in October? None that I can think of, except that it has been believed to be this way for centuries. However, those who know more about the cosmos, the star alignments and geomagnetic pulls may have some valid reasons why October is the bewitching month. Ghostly superstitions and beliefs exist in all cultures, and today I found a nice image that shows ways to ghost proof your home. The traditions come from many different cultures and are easy to do, except for the Kaballah thing. Click on the image to view it enlarged at the original source. Support Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices

The following is a letter I have sent through automation to write my Representatives encouraging them to support term limits for Supreme Court Justices. Feel free to copy and paste the following letter that I rewrote from the previously formatted letter that will appear in the link provided at the bottom of this article. Or, use their letter. Or, better yet, rewrite it for yourself as I have done.  When you go to the link, your representatives will automatically appear when you enter your address.  This is such a simple way to contact your representatives in Washington, D.C.  Topic - government reform or judicial Letter: Thank you for your service to our country as a representative of the people. Integrity still matters to most people. Unfortunately, we are living in an era where we can no longer depend on one's conscience to dictate or control individual actions. I, and the majority of Americans, have lost faith in the Supreme Court’s ability to act as a neutral arbiter ...
