Surviving the Circus

In 1922 she ( Elsie Lincoln Benedict ) told an audience,  “ Most people use less brains in selecting the person with whom they are to spend their lives than they do in choosing an automobile, a bicycle or a cut of steak. Love isn’t enough; there must also be understanding.” So true... I wonder why.  We progressed beyond arranged marriages but in the process we seem to have lost all sense of logic when it comes to choosing a spouse.  Sure, the religious may adhere to the concept of being unequally yoked religiously,  but there are many other ways in which two people can be unequally yoked.
