Free Diet Coke Surprise

I ran out of Diet Dr. Pepper this morning which, if you knew me, you'd know that it's a terrible thing and I can get downright grouchy without it.

So, after I dropped my daughter off at the college, I went to CVS, which was right across the street. Well, their drinks are so expensive that I simply refuse to buy more than one at that price. It's the principle of the thing. However, they had my favorite ice cream on sale for half of what I pay in the grocery store, so I stocked up on that and got a few more things while I was in there.

Here's the best part... When I got to the register, she asked for my little care card and then informed me that since I had spent over $20, I was entitled to a 12 pack of Coke products - absolutely free. Then she took my care card and went to the scanner to spit out the coupon for me.

Can you believe it?

She even walked with me to where the boxed cans were stacked to pick up my free drinks! That lady was a pleasure to do business with.

She didn't have to tell me about the free product, I would never have known the difference. But she did - and that made all the difference.

God bless her.

So, if you've got a few things you can buy at CVS, go spend $20 and get a 12 pack of canned drinks - free!

Happy Monday!

  1. Nice story! It is always a pleasure to meet people who go out of their way to help others.

It is a shame we are surprised by such behavior though. Sally

  2. I hadn't thought of that Sally. You're right! It's very sad that I was so surprised by what once would have been considered "normal" behavior.

Tampon Tim

So now they're calling him "tampon tim."  Meanwhile, we're loving the publicity showcasing the magnificence that is Tim Walz.  Gov. Tim Walz’s administration ensured that menstruation products are provided freely in Minnesota's public school bathrooms.  "This move is crucial for students who might experience their first periods unexpectedly or who cannot afford products at home. According to a 2019 study by Plan International USA, 1 in 5 girls in the U.S. has missed school because of lack of access to menstrual products." Walz also removed the tampon tax in Minnesota, proudly making it one of the few states to acknowledge the absurdity of taxing our essential health products. These are the kinds of actions that prove a politician cares about his or her constituents, and is concerned about the poorest among them.  Bravo! #HarrisWalz2024  https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/...

Ghost Proof Your Home

Halloween is around the corner and October in general is a month when strange happenings occur. I hear many tales of unexplained phenomena such as lights going on and off, knocks on the door when no one is there and sometimes just a "feeling" that someone is watching you. Is there any particular reason that spirits are more active in October? None that I can think of, except that it has been believed to be this way for centuries. However, those who know more about the cosmos, the star alignments and geomagnetic pulls may have some valid reasons why October is the bewitching month. Ghostly superstitions and beliefs exist in all cultures, and today I found a nice image that shows ways to ghost proof your home. The traditions come from many different cultures and are easy to do, except for the Kaballah thing. Click on the image to view it enlarged at the original source. Support Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices

The following is a letter I have sent through automation to write my Representatives encouraging them to support term limits for Supreme Court Justices. Feel free to copy and paste the following letter that I rewrote from the previously formatted letter that will appear in the link provided at the bottom of this article. Or, use their letter. Or, better yet, rewrite it for yourself as I have done.  When you go to the link, your representatives will automatically appear when you enter your address.  This is such a simple way to contact your representatives in Washington, D.C.  Topic - government reform or judicial Letter: Thank you for your service to our country as a representative of the people. Integrity still matters to most people. Unfortunately, we are living in an era where we can no longer depend on one's conscience to dictate or control individual actions. I, and the majority of Americans, have lost faith in the Supreme Court’s ability to act as a neutral arbiter ...
