Practice turning people into trees

Taking a lesson from nature as food for thought this Sunday.

I love this lesson from Ram Dass...

When you go out into the woods and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You appreciate it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree.

The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying “You’re too this, or I’m too this.” That judging mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are.

Regarding judging others... and even ourselves (in my own words).

I shall "practice turning people into trees."

Meaning I will have appreciation for them as they are...

Understanding and acknowledging that we are ALL victims of circumstances at times.

Remembering that circumstances can create an environment that is nurturing - or destructive.

Everyone gets through their circumstances the best way they know how.

No one is perfect.

No one truly wants to be a "problem."

We are all just walking each other home.

It's time for a little empathy, compassion, and love.

Tampon Tim

So now they're calling him "tampon tim." Meanwhile, we're loving the publicity showcasing the magnificence that is Tim Walz. Gov. Tim Walz’s administration ensured that menstruation products are provided freely in Minnesota's public school bathrooms. "This move is crucial for students who might experience their first periods unexpectedly or who cannot afford products at home. According to a 2019 study by Plan International USA, 1 in 5 girls in the U.S. has missed school because of lack of access to menstrual products." Walz also removed the tampon tax in Minnesota, proudly making it one of the few states to acknowledge the absurdity of taxing our essential health products. These are the kinds of actions that prove a politician cares about his or her constituents, and is concerned about the poorest among them. Ghost Proof Your Home

Halloween is around the corner and October in general is a month when strange happenings occur. I hear many tales of unexplained phenomena such as lights going on and off, knocks on the door when no one is there and sometimes just a "feeling" that someone is watching you. Is there any particular reason that spirits are more active in October? None that I can think of, except that it has been believed to be this way for centuries. However, those who know more about the cosmos, the star alignments and geomagnetic pulls may have some valid reasons why October is the bewitching month. Ghostly superstitions and beliefs exist in all cultures, and today I found a nice image that shows ways to ghost proof your home. Support Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices
